Go large or go home. Apparently, Mercedes is looking to stuff the 5.5L V8 into the SLK roadster. This should make for a quick and exciting car, except this will be installed without the turbos. Either way, this car will be fast! I would be concerned about front-end weight, but I am sure Mercedes will do all they can to balance this car well.

I started to write this up as the rich man’s Jeep Grand Cherokee, but after learning more about this SUV, I believe there actually maybe something more here.
Mercedes SUVs, to me, have been more show than go. Drive through an upscale neighborhood and you see soccer mom’s driving their kids through the the mighty suburbs to school and practice. Now with a diesel option, new platform and somewhat “reasonable” starting price, I believe Mercedes could be worth looking at for a mid to high end SUV.
